Wakíŋyaŋ (Lightning) Power

The power of lightning comes from the heavens, where Our Creator lives. The Lakota Nation named the Wakíŋyaŋ Society after lightning to receive this magical power. The Nation knew that by wearing this symbol, they would send out honor to Our Creator.

The lightning bolt is a powerful symbol in Lakota belief and tradition. This simple form brings the strength of the Wakíŋyaŋ, the Thunder Beings, to the wearer.
